Thailand 7-Day Itinerary: Bangkok Plus Islands

Bangkok's city energy plus island time — a 7-day plan that doesn't overload either half.

Thailand rewards splitting a trip between Bangkok and an island — the two halves are different enough that combining them beats picking just one. This 7-day plan gives each half proper time rather than rushing through Bangkok on the way to the beach.

Days 1–3: Bangkok

Grand Palace and Wat Pho on day one, a river cruise or Wat Arun sunset on day two, and a full day for markets (Chatuchak Weekend Market if timing allows) and street food in areas like Chinatown or Ari. Three days is enough to get a real feel for the city without exhausting it.

Days 4–7: Island time — Phuket or Krabi

A short domestic flight (roughly 1 hour) connects Bangkok to either island hub. Phuket offers a wider range of beaches and nightlife; Krabi (and nearby Railay Beach) leans quieter and more dramatic scenically, with limestone cliffs over the water. Four days is enough for beach time plus one or two boat excursions (Phi Phi Islands from either base is a common add-on).

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I go to Phuket or Krabi from Bangkok?

Phuket suits travellers who want more nightlife and a wider choice of beaches and hotels. Krabi suits those who want a quieter, more dramatically scenic setting — Railay Beach in particular is known for its limestone cliffs.

Do Indians need a visa for Thailand?

No — Thailand is visa-free for Indian passport holders for stays of up to 60 days, with no advance application required.
