Best Winter International Destinations from India

Two different winter trips: warm-weather escapes, and destinations that are genuinely better in the cold.

"Winter destination" from India usually means one of two very different trips: an escape to guaranteed warmth, or a destination that's actually at its best in the cold — winter illuminations, ski season, or simply more comfortable temperatures than its summer self.

For a warm escape

The Maldives, Bali, Thailand, and Dubai all sit comfortably in their dry or cooler season during Indian winter, making this the best window to visit any of them — clear skies, lower humidity, and (outside the New Year peak) manageable pricing.

For destinations that are better in winter

Dubai's winter (November–March) is its most comfortable season for outdoor activities — summer heat there makes the shoulder and winter months the actual best time to go, not just a warm-weather default. Europe in winter trades summer's crowds for Christmas markets, winter illuminations, and — in the Alps — ski season, at noticeably lower accommodation rates outside the December holiday spike.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where should I go in December from India for guaranteed sun?

Maldives, Bali, Thailand, or Dubai all offer reliably good winter weather. Note that late December into early January is peak pricing across most of these due to the New Year holiday period.

Is Europe worth visiting in winter?

Yes, particularly for Christmas markets and (in the Alps) ski season — accommodation rates are generally lower than summer outside the December holiday peak, and major cities are far less crowded.
